Tasting Note Farr Tasting (Oct. 2009) - "Drink 2010-20 Very lively and transparant and charming and gorgeous!!! Just so racy and a good interpretation of the vintage. Neat and with a sound finish - very lovely and complete. - JR".

WA (Apr 2005) - "One of the best wines of the vintage, this is a classic Pauillac that is a blend of 51% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Franc, and 6% Petit Verdot. Dense ruby/purple in color with a glorious nose of melted licorice, lavender, barbecue smoke, balck currents, and graphite, the wine is tannic, classically structured with an opaque elegant yet powerful 2002 should age handsomely for over two decades. Some patience will be required since this vintage exhibits more muscle and virility than normal. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2025 - RP".

About the Winery The wines here have always had great finesse and breed. The fact that part of the vineyard lies in St-Julien helps to give the wine a special character, more opulent and feminine than a Pauillac, yet richer than a St-Julien. This "Super Second" or "Almost first Growth" is one of the most prized wines in the Medoc after the First Growths and yet priced at a fraction of the Firsts.

The property consists of 85 hectares (210 acres) planted with 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc and just 8% Petit Verdot. Average age of the vines is 35-40 years. Annual production 50,000 cases.
